Our history

Portsmouth Breast Cancer Friends (formerly Portsmouth Breast Friends) was set up in 2001 by women who were undergoing treatment for breast cancer at Queen Alexandra Hospital at the request of the Breast Unit. The group provided a safe, informal space in which people with a breast cancer diagnosis could find friendship and mutual support.

Over subsequent years the group has raised funds to support its activities and to provide equipment and resources to the hospital. It maintains links with the Breast Unit and the Macmillan Centre based at the hospital.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the group has moved out of the Macmillan Centre into the local community. It now meets monthly at the Link, Cosham Baptist Church, Havant Road, Portsmouth PO6 2QZ. Please click here for dates and directions of our meeting venue. We welcome anyone who has had a breast cancer diagnosis and lives in or around the Portsmouth area to join us.
